Description
Art Center East (ACE) announces the opening of “Celestial Resonance”, an immersive exhibit by local artist and sound therapist Darcy Dolge. Community members of all ages are invited to attend a free opening reception on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 6-8 p.m. in ACE’s Main Gallery. The exhibit will be on display February 7 through March 29. There will be a closing reception, free and open to the public, on Friday, March 28, from 6-8 p.m.
“Celestial Resonance” combines art, sound, and intention to create a multi-sensory experience that invites viewers to explore art as a space for meditation, healing, and connection. Dolge weaves together hand-drawn linework, watercolors, digital collages, gilding, and beading with specific sound frequencies and crystal elements, creating works that resonate energetically and visually. Visitors are encouraged to engage with the exhibit by wearing the headphones provided so they can experience the art through curated sound frequencies. The headphones transform the exhibit into an auditory and visual journey.
Dolge’s exhibit represents a personal homecoming, marking her first comprehensive body of work since 2013. The collection reflects her belief in art as a transformational practice and explores themes such as creative courage, self-discovery, and universal connection. Drawing on her background in sound therapy and crystal practice, Dolge incorporates frequencies, cymatics, and celestial elements such as astrological cycles, numerology, and planetary rhythms into her work.
Visitors will also see Dolge’s use of gilded details crafted from gold, silver, and copper leaf—symbols of alchemical transformation—and digital collages infused with mineral-based pigments derived from natural elements like soil and crystals. A key series highlights cymatic patterns (a visual representation of sound vibrations) and features motifs such as the seven main chakras and the “AUM” symbol that evokes universal harmony and connection.
A recorded artist talk by Dolge will be available following the opening reception. A weekly sound journey and a virtual tour of “Celestial Resonance” will also be available on ACE’s website for people who are unable to visit the exhibit in person.
