Soil School
Saturday, February 22, 2025 (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM) (PST)
Description
Soil School! is here to help you answer these questions. Join us for a day of exploring soil science and how to apply it to your home ground to help your garden flourish. We will have two guest speakers:
OSU Small Farms Specialist and Soil Scientist, Nate Stacey, will guide you through the exciting world of soil science (really: some compare studying soil to our explorations of outer space!). Nate will cover the principles of soil health and how to achieve them in your garden, how to evaluate your garden's soil health, and how to get your soil tested (and how to read the report!).
Liz Turner, owner of The Compost Chick, a Union County business that offers composting services, will cover the fundamentals of home composting - a useful practice for building soil health.
Cost: $35. Lunch is included in this full-day workshop. Lunch will feature foods grown in local, healthy soil. *Please let us know when you register if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies.
When: February 22, 9am-3pm
Where: 10507 N McAlister Rd, La Grande
