You’re Up! – Improvisation (Ages 14-18) FREE
December 20 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm
January 17 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm
February 21 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm
Ready to unleash your creativity? Join this fun, high-energy improv class and gain some amazing acting skills! No acting or improv experience is necessary. You’ll dive into exciting exercises and games that keep your brain working and your body moving, while learning the tricks to make an improvised scene exciting and fresh. Whether you’re making up characters, telling wild stories, or working with fellow actors, this class is all about having fun and learning to think on your feet. Teaching Artist Rikki will share tips on how to keep the audience on the edge of their seats and how to make every moment count on stage, while helping you gain confidence. Make sure to wear comfy clothes you can move in—such as sweatpants, t-shirt, and sneakers or jazz shoes; no skirts or dresses unless you’re wearing leggings underneath, please. Get ready to jump in, improvise, and laugh!

Rikki Jo Hickey is a theatre artist who has taught theatrical classes, workshops, and summer camps to people of all ages for more than 20 years. She is the owner/instructor at mNemosyne Studios (theatrical and performing arts classes) in downtown La Grande. Rikki holds an MFA in Theatre Direction from University of Hawai’i at Manoa and has studied theatre since she was five years old. She is excited to partner with Art Center East to help foster the performing arts in Eastern Oregon.
Free youth classes are made possible by the Art Center East Youth Arts Learning Fund. Note: Fill out a Youth Release Form and submit an RSVP for your own children ONLY. Please be sure to add the name of each child who will attend.
Parents/guardians of youth age 17 or younger: if you haven’t already done so, CLICK HERE to fill out a Youth Release Form in order for your child to participate in ACE youth classes.
